Description:The Endeavour's crew did not give up of the idea of the Great Southern Continent easily and started seeing imaginary land to the east. The Endeavour returned to the coast after a wild goose chase sighting the Cape at the entrance to Dunedin Harbour, which Cook sailed past on his southerly search.

Title:South Island Storms & the Southern Continent

Description:Peter sails along the beautiful Catlin Coast and tells how Cook arrived off Stewart Island where bad weather led him to believe it was connected to the mainland, his second mistake. Cook sailed turned north at South Cape where the Crew finally accepted that there was no Great Southern Continent and that NZ was two large islands as Maori had said!
